    git find
This is mostly for my own benefit so that I can quickly find it again, but a while back my esteemed (former at the time, now current) coworker cooked up this little bit of git magic on his twitter, in .gitconfig:

    [alias]
    find = !sh -c 'git ls-files |grep --color=always -i "$@" |less -FRSX'

which then lets you do things like:

    git find SomeTest.java

without having to remember all the src/java/test/org/foo/project/bar/baz/ junk. Most handy.

    Remembrance Day Shopping?
I was just wondering if anyone knew if any of the stores in the Glebe or Market areas were open at all on wednesday? Or when they opened? I'm suspecting noonish openings, but some confirmation would be great. Thanks!

    Dress Shopping
     Hey all,

I have a February wedding to go to (I know I'm planning early) and I want to look good! Also I figure if I buy a dress now, I can wear it at least once or twice over the holidays thus justifying the cost.

I'm looking to spend $100-$200, the cheaper the better as tuition ain't cheap.

I don't really want a Jacob or Melanie Lynne special, my boyfriend's the best man and I want to stand out.

Any ideas for places downtown (ideally) where I can get something that no one else will be wearing? Keeping in mind that it's a wedding of 300+ people and I need to look classy.

Standard sizing is fine! Preferably cocktail length.

    Thanks :)

P.S. I've already perused Red Velvet on Elgin, and though their stuff is lovely, the dress I liked was $245 and that's before I consider shoes or accessories.

Where can I buy slip covers for my couch?

Also, are there any places that sell Filipino baked goods (as in, from the Philippines, not made out of Filipinos)?

    Thank you in advance!

    Hey Ottawa, how's it going?

I am looking for a certain style of jeans, and I've been having a hard time finding a pair with all of these features:
    -straight leg
    -low rise
    -no rips
    -NO STRETCH.

I know Levi's makes a style like it, but it isn't available on their Canadian website. I've had no luck at American Eagle, and most stores seem to only sell jeans with stretch. Does anyone know FOR SURE where I could find jeans like this? Thanks!

    Transpo Help
    Hey Guys,
The Travel Planner is down (or is not working for just me because it is hateful), so I'm hoping I can get a bit of help for planning a bus route.

I need to be at Landsdowne for slightly before noon tomorrow. If I were to try to catch the 1 or the 7 at the Rideau Centre, what side of the street should I wait on, the Chapters side, or the Rideau Centre side? Actually, is that even correct? Do these routes stop on the bridge?

    Please help!
    Thank you!

    Need a haircut - Bayshore??
    Hello!

I desperately need a haircut (it's been like three years, scary) and I'm looking for something a bit trendy and thinking of putting in some red or turquoise streaks... I live right beside Bayshore and I was wondering if anyone knew if there was a good and moderately-priced salon in/near the mall *Crosses fingers*

I have taken a look at the places in the mall itself, but you can't really judge by how they look... Let me know! :)

    Authentic Dim Sum place?
    Hey all,

I am from Montreal and living here, and my in-laws are coming down for a day, and have asked me to bring them to an authentic Chinese Dim Sum where they bring around the carts to your table, and you order what you like. Are there any in Ottawa? Any that you would recommend? I am located near Bank and Heron Rd, but anywhere within car distance would be great! :) ... I'm not sure what's out there, as I'm new to the city. I have a list of chinese restauraunts, but that's not helping me much, unless I call every one of them.

    Thank you,

    C.

    Litl launches!
Today we launched our web book, I no longer have to enigmatically raise my eyebrows in response to questions about my job etc.

Can't believe I've only been here for 6 weeks. Feels like so much longer (in a good way).

Anyway, Wall Street Journal article, Reuters, El Reg.

Gratuitous pic of the team (wtf is my hair doing?)

I'm looking for a place in Ottawa that sells Arabic language children's books and educational toys. Or failing that, links to good resources for the same online. I would prefer to buy local so I can check them out first. I'm also able to travel to Montreal if you know a shop there that would have this kind of thing.

I’m a 20-year-old girl, and I’ve been dating my boyfriend, who is 23, for two years. From the get-go, he has known that I am bi, and like most straight guys, he’s happy to be with a girl who likes girls.
The thing is, I am too shy to go out and hit on a girl. Getting a man was the easy part, but getting a girl who is willing to fuck around not only with me but also with my boyfriend is a daunting task. I encourage my boyfriend to talk to women since he is ...

    Richelieu-Vanic H1N1 Clinic
    Hello!

I had a question and was hoping someone here might know the answer. I found out I am high risk for this balls flu, and the clinic in Vanier is closest. It opens at 2:30pm on weekdays, but I know people are showing up a LOT earlier to get their bracelet.

Do you know what time I should get there in order to get my shot shortly after 2:30? Do you know what time they've been starting refusing new clinic patrons?

    Thanks!

    O'Shea's Market Ireland - Closing?

I was only half listening, but I believe I heard an ad on CFRA that "O'Shea's Market Ireland" on Sparks St. is going out of business. Any truth to this or did I mishear?

    What I shame if it's true - I <3 that shoppe.

    begginers' yoga?
I'm looking for recommendations for beginners' yoga classes. There's lots out there, so I'm hoping to find something that others have had really good experiences with. I do live in Barrhaven, but am not opposed to a drive if the class is particularly good.

    Thanks in advance! :)

    Classes
Hey, I go to Gloucester High School and I might have to change schools soon. As far as I know Gloucester is the only school that offers Japanese as a class, but does anyone know of any others? Preferably in the east end, but any are fine really. If not Japanese, any other East-Asian languages?

I have been looking for a certain style/colour of glasses frames for some time now. None at walmart , lenscrafters or laurier. There were several at hakim on bank but they are 500$ a pair and cant afford it. Haven't looked at a "new look"  yet, how do thier prices compare?

    Kitty needs a good home
    Kitty needs a good home

I rescued an adorable brown tabby stray a few months ago, she'd obviously been outside for a few weeks and was pretty pathetic at the time. I had her nutured and vaccinated as soon as I took her home. Two months later she's fit and beautiful but I unfortunately can't keep her as she eats more then my other cat (who's a finicky eater) and it's creating health problems for him. So I need to find miss kitty a good home. She is the most affectionate cat I've ever seen, an absolute lap cat who adores being around people.

Please serious inquiries only, she needs a forever home
